Monday 20 April

Eight of us gathered today on a beautiful spring morning to start work on dismantling the fallen dry stone wall in the corner where Ladies Spring Wood meets with the Deer Park and the De La Salle sports ground.
Under expert supervision we had a team on each side of the wall, stripping back the stones and sorting them into size order for future use. It took all eight of us and all morning to clear the fallen stone and clear the enormous amount of debris and dust in the middle of it. By the time we had finished we could see the extent of the bole of the Ash tree which had caused the problem and our expert was formulating a design including lunkies and smoots ( iykyk)
A member of De La Salle very kindly brought us some fruit cake during our coffee break which was very much appreciated.
The intention next week is to lay the footings and start to build upwards and outwards around the ash tree that had forced the wall down. We hope to incorporate a smoot too in the corner.
In the meanwhile, we’ve blocked the area off from people getting in and deer getting out.
Beautiful walk back through the woods admiring the bluebells.
